Weary Wanderer

Hi Dolls!

I know I've been MIA for a while, but I'll be back to full posting in no time... I'm just recuperating from the trip. It was fun and interesting, but I was swamped with work for most of my time there and now I'm swamped with work I have to do to catch up now that I'm back. But rest assured I will start posting regularly soon!

Style me for London

Hello Dolls! I got my visa to the UK! YAAAYYY! Everything is now in place for the trip... does anybody know places to visit in London (and Buckingham, where I'll actually be spending most of my time)? Restaurants to check out, fun things to do... anything like that. And of course, What Should I Wear???
I'd love to be Styled By U for my trip next week... feel free to let your creative juices flow and participate via comments!

I'll be needing outfits that transition from day to night... the day will be business wear, the night will be for nights out and about on the town :)

Let's have some fun!

Stranger In My Own Land

Suggested by Katie of Glitter and Unicorns:

So as I've said before, I live in my parent's homeland of Angola, of which I am a citizen by default due to their citizenship although I'm not natural-born... well that presents a few issues when wanting to do regular things like, request a national ID (which is used for everything from domestic travels to bank transactions). I've been running around all day trying to get my ID processed but they wont give me one because I don't have a birth certificate proving that I'm from here... all I have is a passport but they wont accept that. I'm so upset! Just when I was starting to feel Angolan to the core they throw it back on my face that I'm not! :( Well I don't care... I'm Angolan and I'm proud!
This dress is one of my faves because of its structured silhouette... I got it at Primark when I traveled to the UK a couple of years ago, and it's been going strong ever since. I love that it looks like a high-quality, expensive item when it was actually quite cheap... gotta love that!
I loved this outfit, it was really simple yet sophisticated. Great way to feel while I run around trying to prove my Angolanness :D
Thanks for such a great suggestion, Katie!

Music in Me

Suggested by Nnenna of Star-Crossed Smile:

I spent Saturday afternoon at a gospel concert (as you can may be able to see from the violins in the background, I'm a musician on the side) and this outfit was great for the balmy weather and the crowded room. Kept me cool and comfy all the way until I got home in the evening and crashed of exhaustion. It was such a busy, yet fulfilling day spent with good friends and great music. Just lovely.
Thanks Nnenna for the suggestion!

London or Bust

Suggested by Marie-Eve of A Pretty Nest:

Today was very disappointing... I found out my visa to the UK had not been approved yet, so I gotta wait around for them to finally grant it. Hence, I had to postpone my trip by a week. Thankfully, the travel arrangements were such that I was able to make the changes without any extra costs... but I was sad that I don't get to go... I was ready for a little break from the routine. Oh well. I can live through another week, hopefully the embassy doesn't disappoint this time!

This outfit was nice and comfy for the half day I spent in the office (the rest of the time I was running around trying to chase the visa and then trying to rearrange my travel itinerary). The combo is another one I don't think I've worn before... but I love it! the colors coordinate so well together! Thanks Marie-Eve!

Too Much to Do, Too Little Time

Suggested by texmimi:

My to-do list today was so. VERY. long... it was actually a bit overwhelming as I stared at it this morning... however, I rolled up my sleeves, jumped right in, and chugged along all-day long until I was able to triumphantly strike out every single task on it. Yay for productive days!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to tie all the loose ends I still need to tie before I head for London on Saturday night. It's always crunch time before one of these business trips but once I'm in the air I can breathe easy and enjoy my time abroad.

This outfit was sorta casual for the office but it still looked put together because of the dark wash of the denim skirt and the high-heeled Mary Janes. The cardi did a ton of good becaue the tank would've offered too little coverage for the A.C.-blasting office space I get tortu- ...er... I mean... work from.
Thanks for dressing me for the day, texmimi!

Groggy

Suggested by grace:

Last night was great because I got to have a long-distance 3-way conversation with my brother and my sister. We're really close and it was great to catch up on everything from our love lives, to our career plans, to our plans for the future and how we plan on helping each other get there. It was so great to catch up, but being as we're all pretty long-winded... our conversations can last a few hours... and it did. I didn't end up going to sleep til after 4 a.m.

Needless to say, it felt like I had barely closed my eyes when the alarm clock announced that it was time to get up... and boy oh boy... did the day ever drag on and on and on... I was so groggy all day but I somehow managed to make it through til the evening without actually falling asleep mid-sentence. Now I've come home, grabbed a quick bite to eat, took a short nap, I'm updating this blog and you better believe the next order of business is to do a quick workout, shower and BED. It's calling my name and I can do nothing other than oblige!

This outfit was super comfy and easy-breezy, perfect for the busy workday I had to tackle in my drowsy state. Also, I'm really into the black-and-white-with-a-pop-of-color trend right now (just look at the header of my blog!) and black/white/red is such a classic combination, you can't go wrong with it. And of course, I can't forget to mention the always fun-to-wear polka dots. Lovely!
Thanks for the suggestion, grace! It got me through a really long day! :D
